Biography

Cheruiyot Kirui Erick has a dynamic career grounded in both academia and applied statistical practice, emphasizing his commitment to research, education, and institutional development. Currently, he serves as a Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science at Murang’a University of Technology, where he plays a significant role in educating and mentoring students. His responsibilities encompass delivering lectures, designing curricula, and guiding research projects, ensuring that students not only grasp statistical concepts but also gain practical skills applicable in various fields.

In addition to his teaching role, Kirui was appointed Acting Examination Officer in May 2023, a position that entrusts him with the oversight of examination processes in his department. In this role, he is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and managing exams, ensuring the integrity of the assessment processes, and upholding high academic standards. His position as an Examination Officer underscores his reputation for reliability, meticulousness, and dedication to academic excellence.

Kirui has also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Murang’a University, a role that laid the foundation for his career in academia. His hands-on experience includes guiding undergraduate students in statistics and mathematics, providing academic support, and engaging in collaborative research efforts with other faculty members.

Further enhancing his contributions to the university, Kirui has taken on the role of Web Champion for the School of Pure and Applied Sciences. In this capacity, he collaborates with colleagues to improve the school’s online presence, aiming to boost visibility and accessibility for prospective students and other stakeholders. His involvement in the university’s digital initiatives reflects his adaptability and interest in utilizing technology to enhance academic and administrative operations.

In his early career, Kirui completed an industrial attachment at Kapkatet District Hospital, where he applied his statistical skills in a real-world healthcare setting. This experience provided valuable exposure to data collection, analysis, and interpretation in a clinical environment, further fueling his interest in the application of statistics to public health.

Throughout his career, Kirui has consistently pursued professional development. He has completed numerous workshops and training sessions, including courses on e-content development for distance learning, cybersecurity awareness, and the competency-based curriculum. These trainings reflect his dedication to staying abreast of modern educational methodologies and technologies, which he integrates into his teaching and administrative practices.
