Biography

Zachary Njiru Nkunu was born in 1983 in Tharaka District, in the Republic of Kenya. I am currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in the University of Nairobi. I hold a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Minor in Physics from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. I have made (2) two publications in peer reviewed journals and (1) conference presentation. I have supervised (1) Undergraduate Chemistry Project to completion at Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Graduating on October 25, 2024). I have (5) five years teaching experience in Chemistry in both Private and Public Universities in the republic of Kenya on part-time contract basis. I have a (7) seven years teaching experience Secondary School and (2) two years’ experience in Medical Training Colleges. At national level, as a trained examiner by Kenya National Examinations Council (K.N.E.C.) and Kenya Educational Management Institute) K.E.M..I., and participated in Physics practical examination marking exercise for 2 consecutive years. I am I have served as a research assistant for (1) one year with Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (K.M.F.R.I.), Mombasa under Marine Environment Programme (MEP) project. I have hands-on experience in the use of UV-vis Spectrophotometer, ICP-OES, Potentiostat, Gas Chromatography and XRD analytical instrumentation. My research interest is in Analytical, Environmental and Inorganic Chemistry.
