Biography

Dr. Charles M Warui is a senior lecturer at Department of Physical & Biological Sciences in the School of Pure Applied and Health Sciences at Murang’a University of Technology. He is an Ecologist/Zoologist with broad teaching & research experience in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Taxonomy, Entomology, Landuse studies as well as Environmental modelling. His research focuses on Bio-monitoring and use of invertebrates particularly arachnids and terrestrial mollusks to understand the consequences of human-mediated global change as well as subsequent ways to restore and maintain sound ecosystems health. He has won and managed several research grants and mainly covering research in East African Savannah and forest ecosystems. Warui is currently collaborating with University of Bologna (ITALY) on Savannah Restoration Programme in Kenya and recently concluded a project on forest restoration with Nottingham Trent University (UK). He is currently the University Examinations Officer and previously served as a Dean School of Pure & Applied Sciences for at Mount Kenya University and as a senior Research Scientist at Zoology Department of National Museums of Kenya. He was an external examiner for Zoological Sciences at both Kenyatta University (2017-2022) and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture (2019-2023). He has supervised, mentored and examined several postgraduate students.
