Dr. Samuel Chege is the Acting Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Murang’a University of Technology, Kenya.
He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Machakos University, a Master of Arts in Linguistics, and a Bachelor of Education Arts (Linguistics and Literature), both from the University of Nairobi. Dr. Chege is an experienced educationist, administrator, and researcher.
With extensive teaching and administrative experience at the university level, Dr. Chege has a particular interest in curriculum development. He has actively participated in the development of various academic programs at Murang’a University while serving as Chairman of the Department of Liberal Studies, the precursor to the Department of Humanities.
Before joining Murang’a University, he taught English and Literature in secondary schools and teacher training colleges, as well as communication skills in technical training colleges.
Additionally, he has served as a consultant with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in the development of curriculum designs for teaching Advanced English in Grades 10, 11, and 12 in senior schools.
Dr. Chege has presented papers at both national and international conferences and has published articles in referred journals. His prior roles, such as Chairman of the Department, as well as chairing several university committees have allowed him to develop strong mentoring skills and an ability to handle student issues effectively.
His research interests include language policy and planning, language preservation and revitalization, and the treatment of indigenous languages in the school curriculum.
