Biography

Somo Qalla Bilalo is an accomplished scholar currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Murang’a University of Technology, where he also works as a Graduate Assistant. He holds a Master of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Education, both from the same university. His research focuses on Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and the study of heavy metal contamination in agricultural soils. He aims to enhance the understanding of chemical interactions in the environment, particularly in assessing soil quality and the effects of contaminants on crop safety. Somo has published his work in several peer-reviewed journals and presented at seminars, including research on the “Concentrations of Selected Heavy Metals in Soil and Tomatoes (Lycopersicon Esculenta Mill.) Grown in Kirinyaga County, Kenya.” He is actively involved in curriculum development and exam administration. Somo is a member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and has attended various workshops and training sessions related to Chemistry. His dedication to advancing knowledge in Chemistry is evident through his teaching, research, innovation, and mentorship of undergraduate and diploma students at Murang’a University of Technology.
