Biography

Dr Tabitha W. Karanja is a senior Lecturer at Murang’a University of Technology in the school of business and Economics. Her area of specialization is Entrepreneurship. Dr Tabitha Karanja is passionate in Educating and Training Women who operate small enterprises with a quest of investigating factors that impede the growth of women-owned enterprises. The unemployment rate in Kenya especially among the Youth has been a national concern. Dr Tabitha Karanja has tried to participate in this concern and in her PhD Research Thesis investigated on the role that Entrepreneurship play in job creation especially for the huge number of graduates which Universities release every year. Among her recommendations was on how the Country can embark on identifying comparative advantages of each County and strengthen those advantages for purpose of Job creation. There are a lot of research findings that are in the shelf of Kenyan Universities. Some of those research findings if implemented can address some of the problems arching the Nation. Dr Tabitha Karanja serves as Director Gender and Development at Murang’a University of Technology. She strongly believes in Gender Equity and Inclusivity. The Directorate vision is to Strengthen Gender Equity and Inclusivity in the University and beyond while the mission of the Directorate is to create an environment of diversity, equality and inclusivity in which all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, where every individual has a sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive by participating in National and International Research that attract Funding. The Directorate envisage when the Directorate will grow and become an Institute of Gender and Development in Murang’a University of Technology.
