Biography

Dr Kinyua Kiragu is a fulltime lecturer of History at Murang’a of Technology University (MUT). He is also the Industrial Attachment Coordinator for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Before joining MUT, he served as a lecturer of history at Mount Kenya University and where he also doubled as the Post-graduate Coordinator for History. Dr Kinyua holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in History, Master of Arts Degree in History and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) specialising in History and Kiswahili. He also holds a post-graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.
Dr Kinyua research interest range in the intersection between decoloniality, culture, governance, sports, gender and international relations. He has published in various journals and presented papers at conferences and seminars. He has over decade of experience teaching at the university in history, international relations and political science. Dr Kinyua has also mentored postgraduate students. He was central in developing and reviewing the PhD and Master programmes for history for Mount Kenya University, the University of Embu and MUT. Additionally, Kinyua has worked with the community as a coach and as the expert in community-based cultural and heritage conservation initiative.
